Paper vs in-app sections
The answer to How is this assessment performed? determines what the pupil reads. The assessment definition also sets whether a live section appears word by word, five at a time or sentence by sentence. You do not need to choose a display style during the test.
App shown to pupil
Section titled “App shown to pupil”In a word-by-word section, one letter, word or question appears in large print. Tap it to show the buttons if they are hidden, then tap Correct, Incorrect or No Response to score it and advance.
In a sentence-by-sentence section, the whole sentence appears together. Tap a word once for incorrect, again for no response, or again to clear the mark. Use Next sentence to move through the passage.
In a timed five at a time section, five letters or words appear together. Use the same tap cycle and Next 5 / Previous to navigate.
Pupil reads from the paper sheet, you score here in the app
Section titled “Pupil reads from the paper sheet, you score here in the app”The pupil reads the printed material. Word-by-word sections use a compact scrolling list with response controls for each item. A section configured for sentence-by-sentence assessment uses the sentence screen, so the assessor sees and marks each complete sentence while the pupil reads from paper. A five at a time section uses the grouped screen for live marking and keeps any requirement to show the pupil the paper list.
Enter results of an assessment already done on paper
Section titled “Enter results of an assessment already done on paper”Enter the existing responses in the compact list. No live timer runs. For a section that requires a duration, tap Tap to enter under Confirm Duration and type the time recorded on paper, in seconds, before confirming completion.
Timing and scoring
Section titled “Timing and scoring”Live countdowns stop silently at their configured limit. Sentence and five at a time assessments ask you to Select the last one read or attempted before saving. Unmarked items through that point count as correct; later items are not attempted.
Reading passages and five at a time sections show Fluency (correct per minute) when a valid duration is available, including paper entries. Isolated sounds and word lists without a fluency configuration do not automatically receive a fluency score.
